The story of Timberland began in 1952, when Nathan Swartz founded the Abington Shoe Company in South Boston, and a few years later he moved to New Hampshire. Timberland introduced the first Yellow Boot in 1973, a boot made of fine full-grain nubuck leather and thick grooved rubber soles.

Designed for New England workers, the yellow boot soon began to be sold in important stores such as Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue, immediately acquiring a trendy connotation, soon becoming an iconic and representative garment, both in America and in the rest of the world. In Italy its popularity grew thanks to the paninari, a youth subculture of the early 80s, whose members met at the "Al Panino" bar in via Agnello in Milan. Thanks to injection molding, the soles are welded to the upper part of the boot, guaranteeing perfect waterproofing. A nappa leather toe liner surrounds the foot for a more comfortable fit.Four levels of nylon stitching are employed to resist fraying and straining.

The padded collar with double foam and covered in specially treated leather comfortably hugs the ankle. Finally, the tree symbol imprinted on the leather: Timberland was one of the first companies of its kind to brand a product like this in such an evident way.
